Drugs: Warning Signs |
|
|
 |
When concerned about the possibility of a loved one or a friend
experiencing problems with alcohol or drugs, the results of this awareness test may be a
warning. If the YES answers
outnumber the NO's, there is a
strong indication of alcohol and/or drug abuse.
Have you noticed?
- Recent sudden changes in behavior, someone who normally takes
pride in appearance, suddenly does not?
- Dramatic change in appetite or eating habits, sudden weight gain
or loss?
- Sleeping difficulties or a desire to sleep all the time?
- Poor performance in school or at the job?
- Difficulty in concentrating?
- Nervousness or agitation?
- Loss of energy and/or excessive fatigue?
- Constant expression of worthlessness or self-hatred?
- Unnecessary risk-taking?
- Sudden change in choice of companions?
- Drugs or alcohol missing from home?
- Items of value missing from home or office?
- Lying, avoiding friends and family and concealing problems?
- Unexplainable large amounts of money?
This check list may help determine the need to seek intervention
assistance from local chemical abuse centers or professional counselors.
Individuals that say "NO" to alcohol and drugs base their decision on self-image. Fear is NOT an effective deterrent to substance abuse.
